VAALEESWARAR TEMPLE RAMAGIRI
We are known by many names such as Bhairavar, Kalabairavar, Marthanda Bhairavar, Vadukka Bhairavar, Shetrapalakar, Satrasamhara Bhairavar, Sorna Bhairavar. In all Shiva temples, he is seen with the dog vechile in the northeastern direction known as the Eisani corner. Apart from this, there are many temples dedicated to Bhairava.
HISTORY
History of the temple is connected with the local history of the Ramayana period. Rama, the Sri Lanka warrior, was killed by Lord Brahma, Siva lingam in Rameswaram to worship Dosha, to be worshiped, Ramabran. He sent the permission to bring and took a Shivalinga from there and returned.
But he did not ask for the permission of the Kalabairavar, who is the guardian deity of Kasi. By the way, Bhairavar blocked the permission to take Shivalingam. At the same time many of the devas came there and demanded that Lord Shiva lingam for the puja of Lord Rama be allowed to go. At the request of the gods, the Kalabairavar, half-heartedly allowed Hanuman to take shivalingam.
However, the mind of the colonist did not find peace. With the help of Surya Bhagavan and Varunabhava, Hanuman was severly thirsty. On his way to the Shivalinga, Hanuman thirsted.
Kalabairavar said to Goddess Ganga.Accordingly, Gangadevi made a pond there. Upon seeing the pool, Hanuman got excited. at that speed his enthusian was fading. Can anyone drink water from a Shiva Linga in his head? Hanuman looked round. The waiter appeared in front of him as a boy.
He gave the boy a Shiva Linga and said. "For whatever reason. Shiva Lingam should not be put down". The delay was that Hanuman went to that side, and the boy, the collar, put Sivalingam on the floor and disappeared.
When he returned, he was started to find that the Shivalinga he had brought was on the ground. He tried to take the Shivalinga by the hand. He couldn't take it. He tried to hug the tail. But coud not realizing that it was only Kalabairavar who got the Shiva Lingam from him, Hanuman worshiped Kalabairavar and got another shiva linga and went to Rameswaram.
In a fit rage, Hanuman threw a small mountain into the pond. The Shiva lingam brought by Hanuman for the worship of Ramabran was consecrated on that hill. The place was also known as Ramagiri.
Lord Hanuman was nicknamed 'Valeeswarar' by the Lord of grace in this temple. Anjaneya and Lord Nandidevar displays straightly to the lord's Shrine. Ambika's nickname is 'Emerald'.
The Kalabairavar, the cause of Shivalinga's dedication at this level, is called 'Santana Prabdhi Bhairavar'. Kalimata's Sunni can be seen next to the Bhairav Sannidhi. Also, there are a host of deities like Lord Ganesha, Lord Brahmadevar, Vishnu Shanmugar, Veerapatra, Dakshinamoorthy and Surya Bhagavan.
The temple is blessed by the legendary Santana Prabti Paira. So those who have no child privilage come her and pray to the Lord. When the prayers are fullfilled, they bring the baby and give it to the piravar, then the dog's vechile, the dog's image, is returned and the baby is taken back. The town is also known as Tirukkariyarikku. Sundaramurthy Nayanar sings the title of 'Kadangalur Thirukarikar Kaiiyaliyam' in the post entitled 'Devadarikadu Amman' in his Devaram. Due to the absence of Nandi in front of Lord Shiva, there is no worship here.
POURING WATER FROM THE MOUTH OF THE NANDI
There is a tirtha pond outside the temple. From the mouth of the nandi statue on one bank of the tirtha pond water falls into the tirtha pond. This tirtha is called 'Nandi Theertham'. It has been watering throughout the year. No one knows where this water is coming from, the water is delicious. It is said to have the potential to cure diseases and bring health. The water from the mouth of the river flows out unchanced for 365 days throughtout the year.
