THRISSUR VADAKKUMNATHAN TEMPLE

Thrissur Vadakkumnath Temple is the first temple in Kerala to be built out of 108 Shiva temples built by Parasurama.Vadakkumnath Temple is a place of devation, heritage, mythology, legends and wonders of God. The Shiva lingam is enshrined in a large circular shrine facing west. There are three shrines facing west in Nalambalam. At the north end is the main deity Sri Parameswaran. In the middle is Sankaranarayan and at the south end is Sri Rama. The shrines of Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha facing east behind Lord Shiva.


THIS IS THE ORDER OF THE FOUR QUARTERS

To the north, there are special rites of worship at the Nath Temple. Monday is a special day. If you enter through the west tower of the stable of Sreemoolasthanam.Goshalakrishnan and Nandikeswaran should be worshiped. Parasurama is located on a small wall on the north-eastern side. When you go to the stables of Parasurama,You can see Simhodaran. One of the demons of Lord Shiva, through the wall of the Nalambalam and you can see the golden dome of Vadakkumnathan. The rule is not to look back at the brother. On the alter stone, there are many deities like Kasi Vishwanathan, Chidambaranathan, Sethunathan, Urakathamma and Koodalmanikyam Devan.

The South Tower Gate is open only for Shivratri and Pooram. Kodungalluramma should be worshiped here. Pooja is performed at the entrance of the Thekkegopura on the day of kartika. At this time. It is believed that the spirit of Lord Shiva rises to the south wall to see Goddess Kumaranallor Karthayani, who is adorned with all minds of ornaments. Finally greet Sastha, the three domes and the Shankara Samadhi mandapam and enter Nalambalam on the west walk. The legend behind this is that one should bow down to Nandikeshan and ask permission to see the Lord. Then worship the Lord with tears in your eyes.

Neyyabhishekam in the morning and Sanghabhishekam in the evening are the main anointings of the Lord. And 22 feet in diameter. The anointing is performed on a ladder. No matter how much water is anointed, this neem does not change. It does not melt even when hot.

SATISFACTORY EMPLOYMENT

After dinner at night,there is the last pooja called Thrippuka. It is believed that at time all the deities of the nearby temples would be present here. It is the time of the reunion of the Gandharvas, Yakshas, fathers and Saptarishis. If you see strangers among those who come to Thozhan at that time, you shold not ask who they are. Because at that time even the gods or the Saptarishis may have disguised themselves. It is believed that the Lord did what the devotees realized when he was satisfied for fourty-one consecutive days. People come here from far and wide to enjoy themselves.

Ilanjithara is near Koothambalam. The famous Ilanjithara Melam is held on Pooram day at Ilanjithara. Although Trissur Pooram is in this presence, there were no special ceremonies at the Vadakkkumnathan temple on that day. Thiruvambadi and Paramekkavu are the main attraction of Pooram. It is believed that all the gods and Goddesses in the temples of thrissur rise before Vadakkumnathan.
